Boomer Reinvention: How to Create Your Dream Career Over 50Faced with low retirement savings, extended longevity and rampant ageism, the baby boomer generation (born 1946 1964) is in the throes of a career and financial crisis. Faced with low retirement savings, extended longevity and rampant ageism, the baby boomer generation (born 1946-1964) is in the throes of a career and financial crisis. With less than 25% of the generation financially prepared to retire, the majority (between 60 - 70 million Americans) are going to need to keep working for as long as possible. But how can they find jobs or start businesses in a marketplace that appears unwilling to appreciate them for their experience and wisdom.

Career coach John Tarnoff is convinced that the future is promising for boomers - IF they are willing to engage with the "new" economy in a new way. In BOOMER REINVENTION: How to Create Your Dream Career Over 50 Tarnoff lays out a proven methodology of 5 key steps and 23 actionable strategies to give boomers the resources and confidence they need to pivot to a sustainable second act, encore career - one that can be not only financially successful, but personally fulfilling as well.

In BOOMER REINVENTION, Tarnoff, a non-traditional career reinvention coach, psychologist, and former Hollywood executive, provides a comprehensive, flexible, step-by-step guide for anyone over 50 to create their second act career.

Fired 39% over the course of his 40-year career, Tarnoff shares the secrets to turning his own setbacks into successes, and interviews seven other boomers who reinvented their own careers. Overcoming significant obstacles in the process, they utilized and benefitted from the same methodologies Tarnoff has outlined and shared in this book. He stresses that career reinvention does not necessarily need to be a radical plunge into the unknown. It may, in fact, entail re-committing to and reinvigorating a current job or existing business from a new perspective.

What makes Tarnoff's method so effective are his positive, yet contrarian viewpoints, for instance:

  • Don't try to figure out what job or business you can fit into out there in a sea of job postings. Instead, figure out what job or business is already inside you, and network your way to the decision makers who will embrace your skills and talents, and make that heartfelt vision a reality.
  • In order to create a new future, you must reconcile your past. You must first deal with all the old baggage and self-limitations that are likely standing in your way.
  • Embrace your age, don't hide it. It's time to reframe your beliefs about who you are and what you can do, and to leverage the wisdom and experience you've acquired.
  • Stop feeling that having been fired or downsized is shameful. At this point, it's time to be grateful for the lessons those experiences taught you.

For those who both want and need to keep working beyond traditional retirement, Tarnoff's practical strategies offer a flexible DIY solution for late career professionals at any stage of the career reinvention process, including:

  • Your resume won't get you hired. 85% of jobs are filled through referrals. Use social media to build relationships and an active professional network.
  • Don't feel daunted by tech: Boomers invented the digital revolution (Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, etc.) Embrace it
  • Nail your interviews by thinking like a consultant, not an employee. Turn the interview process to your advantage and be a problem solver before you even get the offer.

BOOMER REINVENTION is an indispensable guide guide to claiming the second act, encore career that is every boomer's opportunity. Now is the time to claim it

Nice chew toy
Color: Dinosaur, Size: Small
I have a small dog that loves chewing on these. It’s a bit pricey, but it helps keep her teeth clean, so I will pay this over her needing tooth extractions and a vet bill.

Not chew proof for little puppies
Color: Rings, Size: Small
Our first Chihuahua when she was a puppy loved chewing on this and pieces never came off. Our second Chihuahua I guess was a heavier tour and he was able to get pieces flaked off.

Great for teething puppy
Color: Pacifier, Size: Small
I was trying to find something very sturdy for our puppy that she could not bite pieces off of and this toy has been great. She loves it and it has held up very nicely. They are not soft so it is great for our teething pup. They are also the perfect size if you have a bigger pup like we do. She is a 4 month old pit mix. I would say they would be too big for a small breed puppy

Good size ball for my big boy
Color: Purple
My big boy loves this ball. He chews and chews and chews on it and it ain't made a dent in it. It's made a good quality rubber. It's got a squeaker in it. He hasn't managed to get it out which is not normal because normally he can get a squeaky out within 10 minutes. He goes through toys like I don't know what so it's being being a good. Really good ball. We've had it for about 2-3 months now and he hasn't been able to break into it and get squeaky out or even make a dent into it. That would tear up the the rubber

Sturdy ball, holding up well.
Color: Purple
I have a ball obsessed Shih Tzu. This has become his security blanket. He literally takes it everywhere and even sleeps with it next to him. Dexter loves any ball. All shapes and sizes. He will play fetch all day long if you let him. He doesn't know when to quit. It can be 100 degrees out with 80% humidity and he'll fetch all day long. This is a larger ball, I think just over 3 inches. It is entirely too big for a Shih Tzu, but it is perfect for Dexter. He came to us with a ball similar to this that he has since lost. He carries it in his mouth by placing his incisors in the indentations and lets it hang out the side of his mouth. Quite comical actually, but it works for him. We have bought him balls more for his size, but they're too small and he gets them lost under cabinets, furniture or any nook and cranny the ball will fit. And being obsessive, he will bark and carry on because he can't get to the ball until you come and rescue it. Difficult on our old knees. So he ends up getting the smaller balls taken away from him. The other night he was laying and chewing on this ball. It sounded like he was shredding this ball to pieces. I was afraid he would choke or swallow the rubber pieces, so I took it away from him. There wasn't anything wrong with the ball. It looked brand new. No chew or bite marks that I could see. I was impressed. It does have a squeaker, but I can barely get it to squeak and I have strong hands. A larger dog with a stronger bite force could probably easily make it squeak. It claims to have a beef scent to the toy, and maybe that is why he likes the ball so much. But I sniffed it and couldn't smell anything, which is fine by me, it won't have an obnoxious smell to where I don't want it around me.
