Both travelled to England, bought weapons and fought wars. Hongi died from wounds received in battle and Hone died from tuberculosis.
Family and friends that live in Kerikeri, Bay of Islands, and introduced us to this historically rich and fascinating area, prompting the production of the Cook and Marsden, and Hongi Hika and Hone Heki accounts.
The vast volumes of books written on these famous characters are best left with the learned authors. My account is thus a pictorial presentation to complete a simple puzzle which is indeed much more complex that what my writings suggest.
