Galbanum has been used as an important ingredient in the formulations of many ancient incense compounds like Egyptian Kyphi and the famous Ketoret from the Hebrew bible. Galbanum has an alert, herbaceous, green Chypric fragrance and has almost indescribable aroma when burned or heated. It could be dissolved in high proof alcohol to extract it's fragrance to add to incense dough if you are formulating or frozen over night and ground by hand.
It is quite enigmatic but is strongly reminiscent or things herbal or green. Galbanum is used in a number of high end perfumes by Cartier, Chanel, Guerlain and Balmain.
