PICTURE NEWS #8, adapted the film into comic form, but no other Hale stories were published until the popular Fawcett company began publishing MONTE HALE WESTERN with issue #29. The Fawcett issues had beautiful photo covers Initially. Carl Pfeufer, best known for his exciting
work on FawcettÕs TOM MIX, drew MonteÕs stories with an inking assist from John Jordan. Jack
Binder and Edmond Good also contributed artwork to the series. Leonard Frank did most of the
artwork on the GABBY HAYES stories. The series lasted until issue #82. Charlton then published
six issues, but they were reprints of the Fawcett issues.
This book is available in both hardcover and trade paperback editions as well as in full color or
black & white.
