Back in 2006 the Rough Trade heralded Sheffield's Monkey Swallows the Universe as "big big news" and described their 2006 debut album for Thee Sheffield Phonographic Corporation the Bright Carvings as "having a sound that transports you back to the days of the late 80's and listening to John Peel religiously every night - a mix of the Siddleys, Belle and Sebastian and Sarah Records". Fast forward one year and the band along with their debut single for Loose - the Grand National winner inspired 'Little Polveir' - seem to have hit the mainstream.
