Look Inside the Book

"If Twain was hinting that Huck Finn had no worldview or deeper meaning in it whatsoever, then he was trying to pull the wool over your eyes—because no great stories are shallow." ~From Douglas Wilson's Introduction

Adventures of Huckleberry Finn tells of Huck Finn's unlikely comradery with a slave named Jim. The boy is running from an abusive father, the man is running to freedom, and at first the Mississippi River seems a sure path to deliverance for the both of them. But, ready or not, the river brings them steamboats and slavecatchers, predatory con men, feuding families of the Old South, treasure, and very few friends. Huck comes to realize that civilization might be even harder to navigate than the Great River itself.

Good book!
Format: Paperback
Very helpful book for pathophysiology. The CD not only gives you answers to the case studies but gives you clear details of the clinical Pathophysiology of a particular disease. Definitely recommend it to students going for their Master's degree!

No Answers Provided to Case Studies
Format: Paperback
The cases are helpful; however, realize that there are NO answers whatsoever to the questions presented in the cases--not a huge problem I suppose, b/c you can google everything, but certainly an annoyance. (esp. when there are multiple possible answers. The author states in the foreword that some of the cases are real; in which case, why not provide the justification presented in the patient's chart as to why that patient takes a particular drug, esp. considering that you may take a drug for its side effects rather than its therapeutic effect. . .anyhow. . ) I think if the author provided at least SOME insight/guidance to the cases that it would be much more helpful, but until then, I'm skeptical as to why others gave this book 5 stars.

Format: Paperback
Used this for a Patho class and thought it was a great resource. My group had hypertension and it was really good about giving an overview of the disease without overwhelming you with information. Some of the studies were obvious as to why the disorder occurred but in those cases it helped link body systems and show interactions.
